Galvão Institute would like to officially thank Twitter users worldwide for their time and help in spreading the Institute’s message. The campaign has, so far, raised four months worth of public financing – and this will immensely help maintenance and safekeeping of the rarest breed of Brazilian rainforest bird’s.
Unfortunately, some confusion has been created over the meaning of the Cala Boca Galvão keyword of this campaing. Some people have divulged, in mockery, that Cala Boca Galvão is a new song by a popular north american singer, which negatively affected the efforts realized by the Institute – and severely affected the money raising rate after a few hours. Galvão Institute would like to make it clear that this is a legitimate ecological campaign by a trusted, state-funded, Brazilian non-profit organization. All material regarding this supposed song is fake and has been created by ill-intended Twitter users on a variety of medias. Alas, that was not the only fake story that came up following the success of the Cala Boca Galvão campaign. Noticing the similarity between the words ‘Cala Boca Galvão’ – meaning “Save Galvão (Birds) – and ‘Calaboca Galvão’ – meaning ‘Shut up, Galvão (Bueno)’, some users have started a fake divulgation. This fad gained reputation and press coverage in Brazil by accounts of the World Cup – Galvão Bueno is a sports journalist and soccer announcer for ‘Globo’, one of the main television companies in Brazil. The Galvão Institute would like to make clear that this is also an unintended side-effect of the campaign, and no offense is meant to either Lady Gaga, Galvão Bueno or any other third parties.
We ask all Twitter users for their support and understanding that this is indeed a serious subject and that all help is necessary. We also ask that fake meanings and parodies of this successful campaign be kept to a minimum, so as not to offend third parties. Please keep notice that the new Cala Boca Galvão website (www.calabocagalvao.org.br) will be reinstated in the following month.
